DDPS
Introducing the Desktop Digital Photogrammetry System (DDPS). The DDPS is a fully featured, cost-effective, desktop soft photogrammetry solution that enables users to quickly and efficiently capture accurate 3D vector data and orthophotos from (scanned) digital photography.
The DDPS does not require special photogrammetric skills to generate products such as digital elevations models (DEMs), orthoimages and 3D vector information.
Use the DDPS to produce intermediate deliverables, such as epipolar (rectified images) files which extends the range of products that you may offer your clients. The DDPS operates on Windows 95/98 or Windows NT, and is available as a complete system or as individual modules depending on your needs, as follows:

|
OrthoMaker: Generates orthoimages from digital (scanned) images. This module is very flexible and offers different workflows depending on your data. |
 |
StereoMaker: Setup stereo models (and if necessary re-sample Epipolar images) for use with StereoMapper 3D viewing and digitising system. |
 |
StereoMapper: Provides accurate mapping and measurement in 3D, using pre-oriented stereo images setup by StereoMaker.
StereoMapper For MicroStation (SFM) - SFM runs inside MicroStation and can co-exist with other MDL programs. It's ideal for MicroStation users for virtual design and map updating. |
 |
ImageViewer:Displays very large images and can overlay vector layers. |
he DDPS also has application in Close Range Photogrammetry, enabling users to use photos to obtain accurate field measurements to create as-built 3D computer models. In addition, the DDPS can provide the industrial plant geo-coding for use with Asset Management Systems, to facilitate planned maintenance of plant, equipment and buildings.
The costs of delivery, shipping, Local duty, taxes, etc are the responsibility of the purchaser. Except otherwise indicated.
ORTHOMAKER
Generates, mosaic and colour balance orthoimages from multiple digital images that can be either scanned aerial photographs or satellite images.
Open and view very large TIFF, JPEG, BMP and DIB source image files very fast without format conversion and without needing large amounts of RAM
The source image file can be located on CD-ROM to save disk space and time.
Includes built-in DEM functions to construct Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) and regular grid DEM from simple ASCII XYZ co-ordinates file or DXF/DWG file.
OrthoMaker offers two workflows depending on your data and requirements.
Workflow One: Performs classic image orientation: Interior Orientation (IO) followed by Exterior Orientation (EO). The known Exterior Orientation parameters can be entered directly from the user interface.
Workflow Two: Use Direct Linear Transformation (DLT) as an alternative technique to precisely model geometric relationship between the digital image and control points, and hence simplifies the operation and reduces the amount of calculation. This is ideal when camera calibration data is not available. DLT can also model satellite imagery precisely, you can ortho-rectify high resolution satellite images yourself.
Generates any size of orthoimages in TIFF (strip, tile with or without JPEG compression), GeoTIFF (Georeference TIFF), Windows BMP or DIB format (image size is limited only by available disk space).
Ortho rectify multiple images and at the same time create a color balanced mosaic image.
Designed to process and display very large images.
Overlay DXF/DWG vector data for user to perform verification of generated orthoimage.
Embed DXF/DWG data in orthoimage and save as TIFF or BMP, a great way to print and deliver orthoimages.
Easy to use. The system is designed for non-photogrammetrist personnel. Requires about 15 minutes to master operation.
A Special Feature
Synchronised Cursor
The Synchronised Cursor is a unique facility to DDPS modules. It allows efficient navigation through your image. It works by having two views of the same image open: a zoomed view and a Thumbnail view. When you click the cursor in the Thumbnail view, the cursor is relocated in the zoomed in view to the same position! This feature lets you quickly find features to make digitising in both interior and exterior orientations a breeze.
Definition: Orthophoto / orthoimage
An orthophoto is a planimetrically correct image whereby features are in their true orthographic positions. It is a product that is made with one photograph (image) and one DEM. The photo and DEM are processed with OrthoMaker to produce a photo has its relief and perspective displacement removed. Therefore, it has the same properties as a normal map. It can be used directly to make maps. Any measurement made from the orthophoto will be planimetrically correct. Most importantly, it may be placed behind vector data, such as GIS layers, to aid visualisation and improve aesthetics.

The 3D Mapper logo represents the capture of overlapping images. The logo depicts traditional aerial photography because this icon is most closely associated with photogrammetry. The coloured cube representes 3 dimensional data and is located in the stereo overlap of the stereo model. The colours represent the dynamic nature of information that 3D Mapper software may capture and represent. |
STEREOMAKER
Setup stereo models and produce epipolar stereo images for use with StereoMapper 3D viewing and digitising system.
Loads and processes very large TIFF, JPEG, Windows BMP and DIB scanned aerial photography image files, without compromising performance (hardware dependent).
The source image file can be located on CD-ROM to save disk space and time.
Accepts camera calibration data (in a permanent camera library database), performs corrections for earth curvature and atmosphere refraction distortion, for increased accuracy.
Performs Interior Orientation with a method of your choice: affine, conformal or projective. Also, accept unlimited number of fiducial or grid points.
Perform a Relative Orientation only to tie models together. An Absolute Orientation may be performed in StereoMapper - which is great news for those involved with terrestrial applications.
Performs Exterior Orientation with bundle adjustment method.
Outputs epipolar resampled images for use in StereoMapper. The re-sampled stereo images can be an extra deliverable for your clients who can now enjoy the power of low cost digital plotter (StereoMapper) on their PC.
Use the products of StereoMaker (SMP file and two epipolar rectified images) as a deliverable for your clients.
Quickly import control from the neighbouring models which enables you to very efficiently adjust models within a run or block.
Import Orientation Data from Match-AT or VizuoZo (and others are under development). The high end users can now expand their facilities in a productive and cost-effective way by producing resampled stereo images using aerial triangulation or existing stereo model data imported from these systems.

STEREOMAPPER
Is an easy to use, high accuracy, low cost, digital stereo plotter and stereo vector editor that runs on a standard PC and PC with page--flipping stereo-ready hardware (WindowsNT4/2000/XP). The stereo images, which are generated by StereoMaker, can be an extra delivery to your clients.
StereoMapper also has a MDL version called SFM (StereoMapper For MicroStation) that runs inside MicroStation. MicroStation users no longer have to pay high prices for softcopy photogrammetry systems!
Main Features:
Quickly loads and views pre-oriented stereo image files generated by StereoMaker. You do not have to have a very fast machine and excessive memory. It doesn't even reject work on large images across a network.
Pans and zooms the stereo images quickly even on slower computers with minimum memory (such as P133 with 32 Mb RAM).
Option to use the low-cost hardware configuration or PC with page-flipping stereo-ready hardware. Any PC running Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP with ScreenScopePro direct viewing from StereoAids (non-flicker type of stereo viewing) for 3D stereo viewing of images and vector data. The only low cost stereo glasses that can see stereo on a notebook computer!
And PC that supports OpenGL page-flipping stereo (requires stereo capable graphics card and Windows NT).
StereoMapper can perform Absolute Orientation or Scale Correction for relative-oriented model --- great for terrestrial applications.
StereoMapper can perform stereo digitising and 3D vector editing on pre-oriented SPOT and other high resolution satellite stereo images.
StereoMapper stereo digitising and 3D vector editing.
StereoMapper offers very efficient and comfortable stereo digitising (including manual contouring and place text annotation).
StereoMapper offers built-in auto-correlation to achieve sub-pixel accuracy and reduce the demand for a high level of stereo acuity. That means any body can digitise effectively and accurately.
StereoMapper imports and exports 3D vector data in DXF and DWG formats.
StereoMapper constructs a TIN (break lines and unlimited number of points) and extract contours with specified interval from the TIN. The constructed TIN can be saved to a file and used by OrthoMaker for orthophoto generation. Contours may be saved as a vector file.
Use keyboard or mouse wheel to change height (x-parallax). Users can use second mouse (one to PS2 port and the other to USB port) to enhance the control of the stereo cursor.
Easy to use without compromising speed and quality, meaning anybody can be easily trained to operate the system.
Use the stereo image files generated by StereoMaker as an additional deliverable! Your clients can also digitise with the stereo model with StereoMapper , and reduce feature capturing cost.
The difference between the full DDPS and 3D Mapper Lite is as follows:
The limitation of StereoMaker Lite are:
- Both Earth Curvature and Atmosphere Refraction corrections will NOT be applied in the LITE version;
- The correction for the lens distortion MAY NOT be applied depending on the image size.
- If both the number of image rows and columns of is less than 4000, then the lens distortion is corrected. Otherwise the lens distortion will NOT be corrected.
- Some advanced features such as import orientation data from VirtuoZo, Match_AT, PatB, AeroSys and future Add-ons (such as aerial triangulation and auto-correction for point measurement) will NOT be available.
The Limitation of StereoMapper Lite and MonoMapper Lite:
- The number of points that can be digitised is limited to 5000.
- DWG export/export is NOT available, but the DXF import/export is included.
- Some advanced features and future add-ons --such as planned Auto-DEM genertion etc. will NOT be available..
- There is no LITE version of StereoMapper for MicroStation.
The Limitation of OrthoMaker Lite:
- Only generate ortho image from single image, whereas full version of OrthoMaker (sometimes it may be referred as OrthoMaker Pro) can generate ortho image from multiple images with mosaicking & colour ballancing.
- Can not import orientation data from aerial triangulation files.
